Collection of Short Hadith

Introduction:

The two most highly respected collections of hadith are the authenticated collections the Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. (Sahih literally means "correct, true, valid, or sound.") In addition to these, four other collections came to be well-respected, although not to the degree of Bukhari and Muslim's sahih collections. These four other collections are the Sunan of Tirmidhi, Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, and Abu Da'ud. Together these four and the two sahih collections are called the "six books" (al-kutub al-sitta). Two other important collections, in particular, are the Muwatta of Ibn Malik, the founder of the Maliki school of law, and the Musnad of Ahmad ibn Hanbal, the founder of the Hanbali school of law.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: Allah’s Messenger said, “It is from the excellence of (a believer’s) Islam that he should abandon that which is of no benefit to him (in this world and the Hereafter).” (At-Tirmidhi)

Mutiara kata: Positif

70 Major Sins in Islam - Al-Kaba'ir

The major sins are those acts which have been forbidden by Allah in the Quran and by His Messenger (SAW) in the Sunnah (practise of the Prophet), and which have been made clear by the actions of of the first righteous generation of Muslims, the Companions of the Prophet (SAW).

Allah Most High says in His Glorious Book:
If you avoid the major (part) of what you have been forbidden (to do), We will cancel out for you your (other) evil deeds and will admit you (to Paradise) with a noble entry. (al-Nisa 4:31)

Thus by this verse, Allah Most High has guaranteed the Garden of Paradise to those who avoid the major sins. And Allah Most High also says:
Those who avoid the greatest of sins and indecencies, and forgive when they are angry (al-Shra 42:37) Those who avoid the greatest sins and indecencies, except for oversights, (will find that) surely your Lord is ample in forgiveness. (Al-Najm 53:32)

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "The five [daily] prayers, Friday to Friday, and Ramadan to Ramadan make atonement for what has happened since the previous one when major sins have been avoided." It is therefore very important to determine exactly what the greatest vices, technically called "the major sins" (Kaba'ir), are, in order that Muslims should avoid them.
There is some difference of opinion among scholars in this regard. Some say these major sins are seven, and in support of their position they quote the tradition: "Avoid the seven noxious things"- and after having said this, the propeht (SAW) mentioned them: "associating anything with Allah; magic; killing one whom Allah has declared inviolate without a just case, consuming the property of an orphan, devouring usury, turning back when the army advances, and slandering chaste women who are believers but indiscreet." (Bukhari and Muslim)

'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas said: "Seventy is closer to their number than seven," and indeed that is correct. The above tradition does not limit the major sins to those mentioned in it. Rather, it points to the type of sins which fall into the category of "major." These include those crimes which call for a prescribed punishment (HADD; plural, HUDUD), such as theft, fornication or adultery (ZINA), and murder; those prohibited acts for which a warning of a severe punishment in the Next is given in the Qur'an or the tradition; and also those deeds which are cursed by our Prophet (SAW). These are all major sins.

Of course, there is a gradation among them, since some are more serious than others. We see that the Prophet (SAW) has included SHIRK (associating someone or something with Allah) among them, and from the text of the Qur'an we know that a person who commits SHIRK will not his sin be forgiven and will remain in Hell forever.

Allah Most High says:
Surely, Allah does not forgive associating anything with Him, and He forgives whatever is other than that to whomever He wills. (al-Nisa 4:48 and 116)

Mutiara kata: Sahabat-Sahabat Nabi

A. SAYIDINA ABU BAKAR AS SIDDIQ
Khalifah ar-Rasyidin yang pertama dan Sahabat utama Rasulullah SAW, Sayidina Abu Bakar As Siddiq r.a pernah meninggalkan pesan, katanya:

6. Moga-moga aku jadi pokok kayu dicantas kemudian dimakan.

7. Dia berkata kepada para Sahabat: Sesungguhnya aku telah mengendalikan urusan kamu, tetapi bukanlah aku ini orang yang paling baik di kalangan kamu maka tolonglah aku, kalau aku berlaku lurus maka ikutilah aku tetapi kalau aku menyeleweng betulkan aku.

B. SAYIDINA UMAR AL KHATTAB

1. Khalifah kedua, Sayidina Umar berpesan:

C. SAYIDINA USMAN IBNU AFFAN R.A.

Mari kita lihat pula kata-kata hikmah daripada khalifah ketiga, Sayidina Usman Ibnu Affan r.a. Di antaranya:

1. Aku mendapat kemanisan ibadah dalam empat perkara:

a. Sewaktu menunaikan apa yang difardhukan Allah.

b. Meninggalkan apa-apa yang Allah haramkan.

c. Ketika menyeru kepada kebaikan.

b. Membaca Al Quran itu fadhilat, beramal dengannya itu wajib.
c. Menziarahi kubur itu fadhilat, bersedia untuknya itu wajib.
d. Menziarahi orang sakit itu fadhilat, menunaikan wasiat itu wajib.

3. Pesanannya: Antara tanda-tanda ‘arifin itu ialah:

a. Hatinya berserta takut dan harap.

b. Lidahnya bertahmid dan memuji Allah.

D. SAYIDINA ALI BIN ABI TALIB K.W.

Khalifah keempat, Sayidina Ali k.w. berkata:

1. Ilmu itu sebaik-baik pusaka. Adab itu sebaik-baik sifat. Taqwa itu sebaik-baik bekalan. Ibadah itu sebaik-baik barang perniagaan.
2. Siapa yang tinggalkan dunia, dikasihi oleh Allah. Siapa yang tinggalkan dosa, dikasihi oleh malaikat. Siapa tinggalkan tamak, dikasihi oleh orang-orang Islam.

Sayidina Ali menjawab, “Menyembunyikan rahsia (misalnya menutup aib orang lain).” Ditanya lagi, “Apakah pula sunnah Rasulullah?” Sayidina Ali berkata, “Berlemah lembut dengan sesama manusia.” Ditanya lagi, “Apakah pula sunnah wali-Nya?” Sayidina Ali menjawab, “(Sabar dalam) menanggung penderitaan.”

(Saidina Ali bin Abi Thalib)

Hadith about Quran

Narrated Humaid: I heard Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan delivering a sermon. He said, "I heard the Prophet saying, "If Allah wants to do a favor to somebody, He bestows on him, the gift of understanding the Quran and Sunna. I am but a distributor, and Allah is the Giver. The state of this nation will remain good till the Hour is established, or till Allah's Order comes."  (Sahih Bukhari, Book 92, Hadith 415)

Narrated 'Abdullah: The best talk (speech) is Allah's Book (Quran), and the best way is the way of Muhammad, and the worst matters are the heresies (those new things which are introduced into the religion); and whatever you have been promised will surely come to pass, and you cannot escape (it).  (Sahih Bukhari, Book 92, Hadith 382)

Narrated 'Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said, "Do not wish to be like anyone, except in two cases: (1) A man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously. (2) A man whom Allah has given wisdom (knowledge of the Quran and the Hadith) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others."  (Sahih Bukhari, Book 89, Hadith 255)

Narrated Aisha: The Prophet said, "Such a person as recites the Quran and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And such a person exerts himself to learn the Quran by heart, and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward."  (Sahih Bukhari, Book 60, Hadith 459)

Narrated Samura bin Jundab: The Prophet said in his narration of a dream that he saw, "He whose head was being crushed with a stone was one who learnt the Quran but never acted on it, and slept ignoring the compulsory prayers."  (Sahih Bukhari, Book 21, Hadith 244)

Hadith: Allah will grant whoever recites this (verse 129, surah At Taubah, Ch.9) seven times in the morning or evening whatever he desires from this world or the next. (Abu Dawud)
