DU'A FOR DEBT RELIEF FROM HADITH (ALLAHUMMA AKFINI BIHALALIKA...)

DU'A FOR DEBT RELIEF FROM HADITH (ALLAHUMMA AKFINI BIHALALIKA...)

Du'a to help with debt
“[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed.” (Surah Al-Mulk: Ayat 2)

In life we will face many tests, Allah has told this in the Qur’an.

This is not to torture us but to test and build our character. In Surah Baqarah it tells us “Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear.” (Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayat 286)

We may have difficulties and challenges but we can handle and overcome them with the help from Allah the Almighty, insha-Allah. Allahu Akbar.

In the hadith there’s a mention of a du'a which can help with money problems. Ali’ reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) taught the following dua to ask for Allah’s help to relieve debt as large as a mountain.

DU'A FOR DEBT RELIEF

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلاَلِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

Transliteration: Allahumma akfini bihalalika an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika ‘amman siwaka

TRANSLATION OF ALLAHUMMA AKFINI BIHALALIKA DU'A:
The meaning of the dua is “O Allah! Grant me enough of what You make lawful so that I may dispense with what You make unlawful, and enable me by Your Grace to dispense with all but You.”

Hadith Full Dua

Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

A slave who had made a contract with his master to pay for his freedom, came to me and said: “I am unable to fulfill my obligation, so help me.” He said to him: “Shall I not teach you a supplication which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught me? It will surely prove so effective that if you have a debt as large as Mount Shabir (a huge mountain in Makkah), Allah will surely pay it for you. Say: ‘Allahumm-akfini bihalalika ‘an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika ‘amman siwaka (O Allah! Grant me enough of what You make lawful so that I may dispense with what You make unlawful, and enable me by Your Grace to dispense with all but You).”
